<h2>Overview</h2> <p>The Munising and Rapid River/Manistique Ranger Districts of the Hiawatha National Forest offer a variety of camping experiences. Many are located on inland lakes in a rustic forest environment with no drinking water. The rustic environment offers a wonderfully serene and peaceful setting for your next camping experience.</p><p> </p><h2>Recreation</h2> <p>Visitors will be able to enjoy swimming, berry picking, and fishing at these dispersed campsites. Licenses are required for fishing in Michigan waters.</p> <p>Swimming is considered poor at the Bass Lake campsite. </p> <p>However, Bass Lake hosts a great fishery of northern pike, largemouth and smallmouth bass and bluegills. There is a developed boat launch located on the eastern shore of Bass Lake, approximately four miles away from the campsite. Public back in launch located on east side of lake off FR2633.</p> <p><strong>Lake Size (acres)</strong>: 290</p> <h2>Natural Features</h2> <p>The Bass Lake campsite is located on the western shore of the enormous 290-acre Bass Lake. This site is nestled among hardwoods and is approximately 35 ft x 50 ft in size. In over a mile from these campsites, visitors can expect to find: bait shops, general and grocery stores, gas, a pay phone, trailheads, a fishing pier, biking, and kayak/canoe rentals. </p> <p>Gasoline, groceries, fishing and camping supplies, boat rentals, ice and MDNR licenses are available at Steuben, approximately three miles to the Northeast on County Road 437 (CR-437)</p>
